Pol Roger only produces the Brut Rosé in vintage years. The wine is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay vinified blanc from 20 1er and Grand Crus in the Montagne de Reims and Cote des Blancs regions. The remaining 15% is Pinot Noir that has been vinified "en rouge" and then added to the final blend prior to the second fermentation.
Vinification: The unblended juice undergoes primary fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a cool 43°f. Each variety, village and vineyard are always fermented and cellared separately until final blending. Secondary fermentation takes place in bottle deep in the cellars of Pol Roger, where it is kept until final blending.
The Vintage Brut is typically a delicate rosé, soft pink in color and driven by red fruit.
"A sleek, vibrant Champagne, sporting cherry and citrus flavors backed by a bracing structure." - Wine Spectator
The 1998 Pol Roger Brut Ros epitomizes why we celebrate a new year with Champagne. A dazzling array of pink bubbles, a blend born of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. This Champagne is elegance defined, offering a well-developed backbone, balanced tannins and a beautiful bouquet. On the palate, you won't be disappointed, perfectly ripe flavors of raspberries, cherries and strawberries mingle with a splash of orange. A top pick champagne for celebrating, toasting or gift-giving to welcome in 2007.
Champagne is our favorite wine. And not because it goes with everything. We like Champagne for deeper, more spiritual reasons. No other wine is so routinely soothing, so irrefutably restorative, as Champagne. It dispels sadness, provokes camaraderie and transforms mundane moments into special occasions. Indeed, we believe with Serena Sutcliffe, that Champagne should be a companion for life, ... part of the fabric of our days, on hand to mark a birthday or a piece of good news, and equally accessible when we need cheering up...Four-Star Vintage Ros Champagne Excellent: Wines of exemplary character and qualitybenchmarks of their typePol Roger Brut Ros 1998Brilliant orange-pink color; round, succulent, highly polished, red berry flavors.
Crisp apples, fresh strawberry, and rich cherry notes. A sleek, elegant Champagne with an incredibly long effervescent finish. Stellar. Duck rillettes in a cherry-scented duck stock.
"A stunner from an oaky vintage. Comprised of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay grapes from about twenty Grand and Premier Cru vineyard locations. One of the best brut ros champagnes to come my way in a while."
"Writing about ros champagnes recently, I see that I have fallen into a pattern of making such assertions as surprisingly substantial for a ros or a lot of depth for a ros, but we mustnt forget that ros champagnes must above all attain to a balletic, elevating nature that lifts us along with them, as if, say, we were mere, delirious bubbles in their attractive mousse. Such a ros champagne is the Pol Roger 1998, an altogether delightful yet seriously intentioned example that combines elegance and power, delicacy and weight. The color is a sunset pinky-copper; the bouquet an amalgam of fresh bread and toast, almonds, citrus and orange rind, macerated strawberries and damp stones. It is substantial in the mouth but kept vivid and vibrant by crisp acidity, rollicking spice and a profound, almost earthy mineral element; it avoids austerity by a hair."
Ros Champagnes have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity recently. The Pol Roger has a beautiful salmon color. Christian Pol-Roger said a Ros should have good aromatics, but not be vulgar. It should be seductive and have frivolity.I dont know how frivolity is supposed to taste, but I was certainly happy. This Ros had perfect balance and notes of strawberries and raspberries that just burst from the glass.

Shimmering rose color. Clean aromas of herbs and spice with a foundation of minerals and white peach. Vanilla, red fruit and a shy, but lovely spice note in the mouth. Theres a haunting ripe raspberry quality in the wine that blossoms on the finish. As one so often finds with Pol Roger, this wine has great balance of power and beguiling elegance.

Theres a dark red fruit intensity in the aroma and flavor of this wine, floral, young, and fresh. The rich texture and firm acidity show a lot of pinot noir character.

"Vivid medium pink color Raspberry, strawberry preserves and a subtle blood orange quality on the nose, along with fresh bay and earthy sassafras. A medium-bodied rose with nicely concentrated red berry, cherry and Asian spice flavors. Finishes silky and long, with the raspberry tone joined by a note of sweet cocoa. Really suave, sexy and lush Champagne, showing both power and balance."
