Domaine Christian Moreau Pere & Fils

With a relatively steep grade the plot has terrific drainage of it's Kimmeridgien clay soil and a south/southeast exposure that provides optimum sunlight throughout the growing season.

Sexy aromas of citrus zest, menthol and wet stone. Shows terrific lemony cut and concentration, with firm acidity giving razor-sharp delineation to the dense middle palate. Fabien Moreau believes that the estate's 2014s are even higher in dry extract than the 2015s. Finishes with excellent citrussy cut and length.

"Pale yellow-green. Vibrant aromas of lemon curd, lime zest and white pepper. Juicy, tight and penetrating, offering excellent tension to the flavors of stone fruits, lime zest, white pepper and crushed stone. This wine was to have been blended in tank in June."

"This is still very primary and backward and only aggressive swirling reveals aromas of green fruit, white flowers, pepper and hints of mineral reduction and iodine. The medium-bodied flavors are equally tight with excellent delineation and salinity that continues onto the bone dry and lemon-tinged finale. This too should be lovely."

"Smoky in aroma, this white boasts apple and lemon flavors, with a hint of citrus peel. The finish has a tactile element and quininel and white pepper accents. Best from 2017 through 2023."

"The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons, vinified around 35% in barrel, has more reserved and chalkier nose compared to the 2013. Unusually it demands some coaxing from the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant with lime and just a hint of asparagus, very tensile with a harmonious, sharp finish driven along by the acidity, which should be more assimilated during the remainder of its levage. This has good potential."
