Mercurey Rouge La Framboisiere 2015

Domaine Faiveley

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

Terroir: The 27 acre vineyard La Framboisiere is a monopole of Domaine Faiveley and is located in the heart of Mercurey's 1er Crus to the northeast of the village. Vines date back as far as 1949 and are planted in soils of clay and limestone.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, sorted and pressed on site in Mercurey. Following vinification the young wines are brought to the domaine cellars in Nuits-St-Georges for aging. The wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel and oak for 12 to 14 months prior to release. Approximately 1/3 of the oak is first use.

Packed with bright cherry, blackberry, graphite and smoke flavors, this racy and elegant red dazzles, yet stays focused and firm. The finish is still slightly austere, but the sweet fruit returns for balance and harmony. Best from 2019 through 2032.

This is a long-time favorite and bright and vivid on the nose, displaying strawberry and stone character. Medium-bodied, silky and long with a lovely finish. Salty undertones. A linear and focused Mercurey. Drink now.
