Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.
Terroir: 1er Cru Les Porêts St-Georges is a small vineyard of just 18 acres just south of the main village of Nuits-St-Georges. Domaine Faiveley farms a parcel of 4+ acres that lies along the vineyards southern border with Les Cailles. Sun exposure is to the east and soils are dark brown with limestone and granite gravel.
Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested and sorted upon arrival at the domaine. Following a short maceration the must undergoes primary fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and wooden vats. The young wines are aged in 70% lightly toasted new oak barrels for 14 to 16 months.

This generous although also complex wine brings in many elements. With lush tannins and concentrated acidity it has a dry, still very young character. The weight of juicy fruit suggests a future that is rich and for the long-term. Drink from 2025.

Dark tones of black currant, blackberry and violet mark this broad, muscular red, which is burly on the compact finish, with an earthy aftertaste, yet there is energy and resonance too. Best from 2022 through 2037.

Extremely rich and opulent aromas with blueberries, orange peel and peach seeds. Flowers, too. Full and round, offering up rich tannins and a flavorful finish. Very persistent. Drink in 2021 but already a joy to drink.
A pretty if restrained nose speaks of various wild red berries, earth and once again sauvage nuances. The supple yet concentrated medium weight flavors possess both fine volume and detail on the punchy and lightly mineral-inflected finale that is less rustic than usual. What is entirely typical though is the expected aging curve as this is almost certainly to be extremely long-lived.
(15% vendange entier; 50% new oak): Bright ruby-red. Black cherry, licorice and an oaky note on the somewhat compressed nose. Densely packed, spicy and seamless, with the enveloping texture, dark-fruit intensity and saline minerality to buffer its serious structure. The very long finish features repeating salty minerality, with the tannins coating the sides of the tongue. This very warm site is always the first to be harvested at Faiveley following their vineyards on the Cte de Beaune.
