Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.
Terroir: The 15 acre 1er Cru Fremiets is located on the border with Pommard in the heart of the 1er Cru vineyards of Volnay. Domaine Faiveley acquired their 1.83 acre parcel in 2007. The plot runs the length of the vineyard contains a slight grade and an exposure facing east/ southeast. Soils are poor and composed primarily of clay and limestone.
Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested and sorted upon arrival at the domaine. Following a 18-20 day maceration the must undergoes primary fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and wooden vats. The young wines are aged in 30% lightly toasted new oak barrels for 14 to 16 months.

Silky and harmonious, featuring floral, cherry, raspberry and spice flavors, with a hint of mineral. Impeccably balanced, even at this youthful stage. Lingers nicely on the finish, with an aftertaste of fruit and spice. Best from 2020 through 2038.

Juicy, intense and sweet, offering terrific energy and concentration to its dark fruit and underbrush flavors. For a wine that Hervet says is normally tight and dry on the back end, this boasts lovely definition and lift."
