Terroir: The large 123 acre vineyard of Clos de Vougeot is one of the most famous terroirs in all of Burgundy. Because of it's vast size, this walled vineyard holds many micro-climates with many grade and soil variations.
Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 24 hours prior to fermentation. The wine ages for 17 months of in oak barrels deep in the cellars of Domaine Jacques Prieur.
This wine has extremely limited availability in both 750ml and 1.5l. Please consult your local FWS rep for availability.
"Flashy oak is matched by dense black cherry and blackberry flavors in this powerful red. The tannins are slightly rustic, but the fruit is focused and pure. Needs some time. Best from 2012 through 2022." 92 pts. -Wine Spectator Insider, Feb. 25, 2009
The Prieur 2006 Clos Vougeot features charred meat, blackberry, cherry pit, and high-toned herbal concentrate. The combination of natural tannin and new wood seems to have combined for the slight sense of roughness engendered here, but this finishes with formidable penetration and palate-staining, bitter-sweet grip.

Good full red. Perfumed nose offers black cherry, menthol and fresh herbs. Vibrant and aromatic in the mouth but evolving very slowly. Densely packed, juicy and tactile wine, with a penetrating minerality contributing energy. Finishes with real length and cut, the tannins reaching the incisors.
