This is tight, with a heady mix of black cherry, black currant, violet and spice flavors. There is a dusty feel to the tannins, leaving an astringent finish. Shows power and fine length. Best from 2022 through 2035.

Big, juicy and smoky, this powerful wine comes from vines in the center of the vineyard. Black fruits and firm tannins dominate the richness of the wine with its dark structure and concentration. A touch of chocolate and licorice partners with the generous fruits. Drink from 2024.

"The 2014 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, picked on September 23 from the parcel in the middle of the vineyard, has a nicely defined, focused bouquet with dark berry fruit tinged with rose petals and a touch of mint. The 50% new oak is nicely integrated on the palate, well balanced and focused with good substance towards what is, at the moment, a structured and conservative finish. Give this 2-3 years."
