Terroir: Meursault 1er Cru Santenots sits on the northern boundary of the Meursault appellation. Domaine Jacques Prieur owns approximately 1/2 an acre of this vineyard. This is an extremely unique vineyard as producers are able to produce both white Meursault 1er Cru or red Volnay 1er Cru from the same parcel. The vines face almost due east and the soil is heavy in nature, primarily clay and silt.
Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 12 hours prior to fermentation. The wine ages for 17 months of in oak barrels deep in the cellars of Domaine Jacques Prieur.

"A racy, sharp style, offering notes of toast, butter and smoke, with a resinous detail accenting the lemon and green apple fruit. This powerful wine lingers with a mineral component on the finish. Drink now through 2023."
"The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Santenots comes from a 0.81-hectare parcel located in the lieu-dit of Les Pitures. This has quite a feisty, attention-grabbing bouquet with grilled walnut, smoke, apple peelings and even an exotic touch of licorice. The palate is well balanced with a rich, quite powerful opening. This is packed with flavor, perhaps at the expense of some finesse, although that is the character of this vineyard and the finish is long, spicy and enjoyable. Very fine."
