Terroir: Domaine Jacques Prieur owns about 3/4 of an acre of 1er Cru Meursault Perrieres. The soils of this east facing slope are well drained consisting mainly of a stony mixture of limestone, sand and clay.
Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 12 hours prior to fermentation. The wine ages for 19 months of in oak barrels deep in the cellars of Domaine Jacques Prieur.
"The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres comes from Prieurs 0.28-hectare parcel of vines. It offers a candied, lemon sherbet-scented bouquet with orange blossom and a touch of mandarin that is well defined, but needs some of the mineralite that defines and distinguishes this magnificent vineyard. The palate is taut and well balanced with a lively, lightly honeyed opening mixed with orange peel and dried mango, building nicely towards the tense finish that demonstrates good weight and persistency, with a coda of sea salt on the aftertaste."
