Terroir: Domaine Jacques Prieur's 3.7 acre plot of Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes sits with an ideal southeast facing exposure. The soil is primarily of clay and limestone with average draining that leads to highly ripe grapes.
Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 12-14 hours prior to fermentation. The wine ages for a total of 16 months in oak barrels deep in the cellars of Domaine Jacques Prieur.
"The 2012 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes comes from their sizable 1.50-hectare parcel located just after Meursault Charmes-Dessus. It has a very vivacious bouquet with citrus peel and lemon thyme the most effervescent aromatics displayed by Prieurs 2012 so far. The palate is well balanced with a vibrant opening. The acidity is well judged and there are plenty of shimmering apricot and white peach notes lining up on the tense finish. Excellent."
