Malbec Rosé 2011

Michel Torino

Michel Torino's Coleccion range of wines expresses a prominent, “fruit forward” style, with pure varietal character and vineyard typicity. The goal is to produce elegant and complex wines for their category.

Terroir: Each of the Coleccion range are sourced from entirely estate owned vineyards throughout the Cafayate Valley. Vineyards sit at elevations well above 3,000 feet with many sitting above 5,000 feet. The power of the sun at these elevations combined with very little moisture or pests leads to wines of unique purity and concentration.

Vinification: Each wine in the Coleccion range presents the true character of the varietal. The wines are produced in a young, juicy style with minimal oak influence and just 5 months of aging in the cellar prior to bottling and release.

The rosé is produced following a short contact of the juice with the skins, then the liquid is run off after it has acquired its pink color. Fermentation begins and the rest of vinification follows that utilized for white wines.

Additional Information

The 2011 Malbec Rose assertive aromas of roses, honey, and crushed cherries with notes of spice and rosemary. On the palate, there is crisp, ripe strawberry fruit with bubblegum and white pepper notes on the finish. A great match with lighter summer dishes.

"Bright, deep cranberry color. A nose of fresh grapes without a hint of sugar or candied fruit. Strawberry, watermelon, rhubarb and rose petal notes on the appealing, tantalizing bouquet. More stuffing in the mouth than most ross, with earthy cherry flavors, surrounded by minerality, silky texture and a solid, palate-clearing aftertaste. Delicious and very well balanced. Great for pork, poultry or oily fish. Drink now."

"A beguiling rosy-light ruby color; strawberry and red cherry with touches of peach and rose petal; a darker note of mulberry; bright acidity with a crystalline mineral background; delightful and a little robust for a ros, try with charcuterie or fried chicken."

"The color is bright pink, really very pretty, clear and bright. Aromas of dried strawberries and a bit of cherry waft up from the glass. On the palate, strawberries with a twist of lemon, a faint hint of blackberry on the mid-palate, with a mid-length finish. Acids are good, tannins very light but clearly present. This is a pleasant full-bodied rose that pairs well with anything from roast chicken to vegetarian chili."

"Aromas of red cherry and flowers are prominent on the nose of this Ros. Tons of wild strawberry, cherry and bits of pepper are apparent through the full flavored and fruit forward palate. The bright fruit flavors continue through the finish along with a hint of vanilla bean. This wine is very refreshing with good acidity. This Malbec Ros is made to be paired with food. It has a bit of extra heft allowing it to stand up to a wider array of cuisines than the average Ros. If youre drinking this in the cooler months, Id recommend only putting a slight chill on it."
