Summary
Terroir: Once again, Stephan Aviron is sourcing his Julienas from two well established growers in the appellation of Julienas. In both plots vines average over 50 years. Soils are also consistent and are made up primarily of granite stones, sand and chalk.
Vinification: Grapes are vinified separately until time for the final blending and bottling. The must is macerated in temperature controlled stainless steel vats for 12-15 days and then aged for 12-14 months in a combination of new and used oak casks.

Blend: Gamay: 100%
Score: 90 Points
"Bright ruby. Intense aromas of candied red berries, cherry and violet, with a spicy overtone. Juicy and precise, with incisive, refreshingly bitter cherry and rhubarb flavors that gain sweetness and weight with air. Closes with firm grip and strong, spicy cut, leaving a cherry pit note behind."
Score: 88 Points
"Fresh and focused, with raspberry, black cherry, red licorice and aromatic dried herb notes. Silky and balanced, with a juicy finish."

"Another example of Potel and Aviron Beaujolais unusually tart and bright for its finish, their 2009 Julienas Vieilles Vignes leads with bright red raspberry and pomegranate garnished with hibiscus. Rose hip, salt, and rich notes of beef marrow (more typical of Moulin-a-Vent) add allure to the polished, irresistibly juicy palate, and the wine finishes with an exuberance and refreshment that compel the next sip. It should be fascinating to follow for the next 2-3 years though under no circumstances should it be neglected for the immediate future!"
