El Coto de Rioja Rosé Rioja DOCa 2016


Vinification: The El Coto Rioja Rosé is a traditional blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha sourced from estate and other vineyards in the Rioja Alavesa. The wine sees a quick 48 hour maceration on the skins to extract flavor and color followed by a cold fermentation and bottling.

The wine has tangy, red cherry aromas with piquant herbal notes and ripe, juicy flavors on the palate. Cleansing acidity helps balance the fruit and helps the long, clean finish.

Lively pale pink in color with a nose of strawberries and raspberries. Dry and easy drinking it displays a wide range of red and dark fruits, strawberries, and cherries, sharp and crispy. Versatile, ideal as an aperitif, great with salads, Mediterranean food in general and Oriental cuisine.

Aromas of peach pit, apricot and melon are basic but a little mealy. A chunky palate seems soft due to waning acidity. Flavors of melon and papaya finish slightly flat and bitter. Drink immediately.

Bone dry, and an unpretentious bargain. Darker and punchier than the ubiquitous Provence versions thanks to the Tempranillo, so a perfect version for guys who think ros too girly to drink with barbecue.

Orange-pink. Ripe red berries, cherry pit and a suggestion of dried rose on the fragrant nose. Chewy and focused in the mouth, offering bitter cherry and orange zest flavors that open up on the back half. Hefty yet energetic as well, finishing with solid red fruit punch and bright, spicy cut.
