Domaine Faiveley Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot 2015

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

Terroir: Chassagne Montrachet's 1er Cru Morgeot is the largest of the appellations 1er Crus with over 143 acres under vine. Because of this vast size; the vineyard covers serveral unique terroirs with exposures ranging from east to south and soils based in chalk at the top of the vineyard and clay towards the bottom.

Vinification: Grapes are harvest by hand and sorted upon arrival at the domaine. Following primary fermentation the young wine is aged for 14-16 months in a combination of 2/3 new and 1/3 used oak barrels.

A well-knit combination of lemon, butterscotch, vanilla and toast aromas and flavors, supported by a vivid structure. The lasting impression is of butterscotch and oak spice. Fades gracefully on the finish. Drink now through 2020.

Pale yellow. Subtle aromas of pear, musky herbs, menthol and flowers, plus hints of honey and wet stone. Broad, spicy and ripe, showing a sexy touch of sweetness to its rather cool apple, pear and stone flavors. Good suave wine with subtle length and no rough edges. But still laid-back and in need of another year or two of cellaring.
