Casa Vinicola Luigi Calissano e Figli was founded in Alba in 1872. The winery, not only produced the classic wines of the Langhe Area and sparkling wines in the traditional way but also vermouth, the aromatized wine that was never absent from Piedmontese tables at the time.
Production Process
The formation of the tincture begins after extracting the aromatic essences of the herbs and spices at the basis of the Calissano recipe using various alchemical techniques that range from maceration in alcohol to the distillation of essential oils. The tincture is then combined with the wine base, the sugar is added and, after being fortified a little, the product is left to age for a few months before bottling.
