Château Barbeyrolles

About

Château Barbeyrolles

Régine Sumeire acquired Château Barbeyrolles in 1977. She fell in love with this property located at the foot of Gassin, one of the three villages on the Saint-Tropez peninsula. Twelve hectares of vines, a preserved place of magical beauty. This sleepy vineyard required a lot of patience and hard work. Since 1978, with respect for the environment, work has been carried out to improve the vineyard’s plantations and build farm buildings. The first bottles of Château Barbeyrolles were released in April 1982. In 2004 and 2005, a new cellar was built according to the principle of gravity, including two Coquard Champagne presses: a traditional one and a PAI.

Farming Practices

Agriculture

Our philosophy is the result of a long family tradition focused on quality, expertise on organic farming. Proud of their terroir, men and women work with passion and respect in our estates.

The labour of the soils is performed through plowings, without chemical weed-killers. We use infusions and biodynamic preparations on some plots, combined with treatments with copper and sulphur.

Winemaker

Régine Sumeire

Régine Sumeire, Roger’s daughter, ensures the continuity of the family work. She likes to say that it was her father who taught her the gestures and care of the vine. This same father who told her that he had led a working life in harmony with his grandfather and who knew how to perfectly reproduce this model with his daughter. The passion for vines that both instilled in her still drives Régine to pass on her experience to her multigenerational team and to her nephew Pierre-François de Bernardi.
