Gigondas 2018

Château Mont-Redon

Terroir: Recognized since the Roman times, the Gigondas vineyard, located within Châteauneuf-du-Pape, has been in the family since 1923. For four generations, we have worked with passion to reveal the best of an exceptional heritage in order to make these elegant, complex and long-keeping wines.

Vinification: Grapes are selected and hand harvested beginning in early September. Upon arrival at the winery they are destemmed and macerated at cool temperatures for a period of two to three weeks. Punch down of the cap is frequent to ensure maximum color and extraction. With fermentation complete approximately 1/3 of the wine is aged for a short period in small oak barrels with the remainder remaining in large vats. The wines are then blended and aged for an additional 18 months prior to bottling.

Additional Information

Exceptional woodland notes with spice overlay a deliciously mouth-watering palate of raspberries, vanilla, and red forest berries. Elegant and complex. The tannins are fine and silky and the wine finishes long and clean with a hint of licorice. Can be consumed now but can also age remarkably in the cellar for a decade or more.

"Warm and inviting, with crushed plum and steeped blackberry fruit mixed with sage, anise and bramble notes. Hints of juniper and chalky minerality through the finish while the fruit lingers. Textbook Gigondas. Best from 2021 through 2031. 150 cases imported."
