Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru 2019

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Terroir: Mazy-Chambertin sits close to the village of Gevrey-Chambertin bordered by Clos-de-Bèze to the south and Ruchottes-Chambertin to the west. Domaine Armand Rousseau owns 3 of the 21 acres of this prestigious Grand Cru.

Vinification: Grapes are meticulously sorted as they arrive in the winery. Following a cool maceration lasting 5-7 days the must travels by gravity into barrel where it will stay for the entire vinification process lasting typically 18-24 months. Each Armand Rousseau wine is blended unfiltered.

"Aromas of sweet berry fruit, rich forest floor, smoked meats, wild plums and licorice introduce Rousseau's 2019 Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, pretty and fine-boned rendition of this sometimes rather brooding site. Velvety but precise, it's built around bright acids and sumptuous tannins."

"The 2019 Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru is clearly a step up from the Charmes-Chambertin, offering deeper and more intense red fruit, rose petal and undergrowth aromas. There is also a more tangible marine influence at play here. The palate is medium-bodied with very good structure. Elegant and poised toward the finish, which leaves hints of tobacco and truffle on the aftertaste. Superb. Quintessentially Rousseau."
