Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Rouge 2018

Domaine Jacques Prieur

Terroir: The 3 acre Domaine Jacques Prieur parcel of 1er Cru Grèves sits on the slope overlooking the town of Beaune just west of the village. The vineyard faces southeast and produces both red and white wines of superior quality. Soils are made up primarily of small pebbles (Grèves), sand and clay leading to a wine of great elegance.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 23 days prior to racking. The red and white Grèves both undergo 100% malolactic fermentation and 16 months of aging in oak barrels.

Additional Information

Luminous ruby red. Generous showing floral, spicy and fruity notes at the same time (rose, clove and fresh cherry). Invigorating and dynamic with fruity-acidulous notes. Very digestible on the finish with structured, fresh and spicy tannins.

"The 2018 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru is de-stemmed and matured in 25% new oak. It has an outgoing, ripe bouquet of vibrant red fruit laced with blood orange and tangerine notes, turning more floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and good acidity. A little more finessed than the Clos de la Féguine, leading to a saline finish that shows just a little coarseness at the moment. Drink over the next decade."
