"The 2018 Volnay Clos des Santenots 1er Cru comes exclusively from the old vines within the vineyard, around 60 years old. It has an attractive bouquet, a mélange of red and black fruit, pressed violets and incense, exuberant but controlled and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and a silver bead of acidity that cuts through the layers of black fruit. Tighter than the Santenots from their holding’s younger vines, this probably has more aging potential. Superb."
