About
Domaine de l’Oratoire Saint-Martin covers 25 hectares located in the village of Cairanne only. Most of the vineyard is in the Northeast of the commune, at an altitude of 200 meters on steep hills in an area commonly called “the mountain” in the localities of Saint-Martin, Les Douyes and Coustias. The passion for wines, the estate’s history and unwavering commitment to the land motivates and inspires the family to make wines that are faithful to their origins and roots. From friends’ wines to high gastronomy wines, the knowledge and the variety of each of the grapes and soils allow the Domaine to produce a range of wine adapted to all the moments of sharing.
Terroir
The vineyard is located in the Southern part of the Rhône valley, in the Cairanne appellation whose soils are very varied: rocky, clayish or calcareous soils. This cuvée comes from our old vines located on the middle and lower hillside and farmed organically and biodynamically.
Vinification
Manual sorting of grapes in the vineyard then at the cellar. De-stemming without any grape crushing (except for the Carignan which is whole-cluster fermented), and vinification under trays for 2 to 3 weeks for slow and controlled extraction. Wild yeasts. Maturing lasts 9 to 12 months in vats, bottling without fining or filtering.
