Famille Vincent Mâcon-Villages 2022

About

The Mâcon-Villages ‘Famille Vincent’, previously named “Champ Brûlé” is a blend from different vineyards in the South of Mâconnais, close to the vineyards of Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé. The Vincent Family sources its grapes and juice from fellow growers and neighbours. The privileged relationships allow a “close” control on the vineyard management and the quality of the grapes.

Terroir

The Mâcon-Villages ‘Famille Vincent’, previously named “Champ Brûlé” is a blend from different vineyards in the South of Mâconnais, close to the vineyards of Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé. The plots are predominantly situated on the mid-slopes where the richer soils from erosion mix with the limestones. These hills benefit from a perfect exposure towards the sun assuring optimal maturation conditions and good drainage. The result is an optimal “phenolic ripeness” that brings the yellow stone-fruit character in our wines, balanced by the mineral influence of the chalky soils, and natural freshness of the vintage.

Vinification

To respect the integrity of the grapes we prefer handpicked grapes and special care is given to the transport and conveying until the presses (whole bunch pressing). We use pneumatic presses with graduate progressive pressing (max. 2 bars), adaptable to the quality and maturity of each harvest. The juice is pumped directly into stainless decantation tanks (débourbage).
After 12 hours of static rest, we separate the clear juice from the top and eliminate the remaining depot of the tank (heavy bourbes). We then start the alcoholic fermentation on fine lees in stainless tanks followed generally by the malolactic fermentation.
Each of our plots are vinified separately and blended progressively after racking and regular tasting by our wine-maker Antoine Vincent. If necessary, a fining is applied with bentonite (natural clay) and a light filtration. The final Cuvée will rest for an extended period in temperature-controlled tanks until the bottling.
