Technical Director and Winemaker
Enrico Marega
Enrico Marega, born in 1995, has been Technical Director and Winemaker at Cantina Formentini since 2025.
Originally from San Floriano del Collio, in the heart of Friuli-Venezia Giulia’s most celebrated white wine country, Marega today works in the very landscape where he was born and raised. His professional journey is deeply intertwined with the hills, soils and vineyards of the Collio: a territory that has shaped his sensitivity as a winemaker and continues to inspire his vision in the cellar.
Trained in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Udine, Marega began his professional career in some of the most respected wineries in the Collio area. These formative experiences allowed him to consolidate his technical skills while developing a personal winemaking approach based on precision, sensitivity and a deep respect for the expressive potential of each vineyard.
In 2021, he joined Cantina Formentini, a historic estate rooted in the Collio. From the outset, he contributed to the qualitative evolution of the winery’s production, working
with great attention in the cellar to enhance the identity of local grape varieties and the value of the area’s appellations.
In 2025, Marega took on the technical leadership of Cantina Formentini, embracing the role with awareness, vision and a strong sense of continuity. His approach is firmly grounded in the territory: for him, winemaking means interpreting the Collio with authenticity, allowing its native varieties, hillside vineyards and distinctive terroir to emerge with clarity and elegance.
At the same time, his outlook remains open to dialogue and innovation. This balance between local roots and contemporary vision defines his work today: a commitment to expressing the unique character of Cantina Formentini through wines that speak clearly of their origin, their landscape and the heritage of one of Italy’s most distinctive white wine regions.
