About

Brunello di Montalcino is the archetype wine, produced in greatest quantity because it expresses the true spirit of Le Chiuse. Given the origins of Le Chiuse and the importance of the terrain, our approach is by definition traditional in style, aimed at preserving our history and the nature of the terroir in the wine’s DNA.

Terroir

On this 6ha vineyard, 15 year-old, cordon spur-trained Sangiovese Grosso vines are planted at a density of 4,500 plants/ha. Here, Sangiovese Grosso fruit is harvested by hand. Often no more than 10% of the Brunello fruit is selected for the Riserva bottling at the sorting table and is vinified separately.

Vinification

Grapes are crushed and transferred to tank by gravity followed by a 15-day maceration period at 29’c with frequent punch down of to cap during the first week to promote extraction. The wine is aged for three years in a combination of Allier and Slavonian casks followed by two additional years in bottle.

Riserva is only made in the top vintages.

Tasting Notes

Very intense, brilliant, and deep ruby red with garnet and cherry hues. The bouquet is wide, and intense with scents of ripe cherry, tobacco, leather, and licorice. Officinal herbs and spicy and mineral notes increase the complexity of this wine. Clean, full, warm, sapid, harmonic, and austere made of very good body, an aromatic sensation of jam and spices lasts long in the mouth.

Food Pairing

Recommended with red meat , roasts every kind of hunting, stew, mature cheeses and all those dishes which have great sapidity.

A complex, intense red hallmarked by expressive aromas and flavors of cherry, plum, mushroom, woodsy underbrush, mineral and wild herbs. Supple and firmly supported, turning more precise on the long, savory finish. Balanced, with time to give. Best from 2025 through 2045.

The nose starts deep, with dark chocolate and black cherries, but gradually lightens into aromas of strawberries, blood orange peel and an herbal freshness. On the palate, vanilla puts wind in the sails of the sweeter notes, but powerful tannins and fierce acid recall the original dept

Full-bodied Brunello with dried cherries, earth, bark, dried herbs and leather on the nose. Juicy and layered on the palate, with a delicious balance of fruit and savory meatiness. Firm, somewhat mellowed tannins but still with a chewy bite. Drink or hold.
