About
Today Melini owns 556 hectares in the Chianti area, between Siena and Florence, with a vineyard covering an area of 86 hectares. In this magnificent property, there are farms with famous names such as Granaio, San Lorenzo, Bonorli, Coltri and Poggio a’Rosi. Melini has a long tradition that dates back to 1705, the year of its foundation. A tradition based on the enhancement and characterization of Chianti Classico, whose history coincides with that of the winery, which was the first to impose it on an international level.
Terroir
Melini Orvieto is grown in selected vineyards throughout the Orvieto DOC zone. These hillside vineyards sit at elevations up to 1,000 feet and contain soils primarily of clay.
Vinification
The harvested grapes are taken straight to the cellar. After soft crushing, the
juices are cold settled and the clear must ferments at controlled temperatures
(15–17 °C) with cultured yeasts. Ageing is in steel tanks until bottling.
