The village of Meursault is an important appellation for Maison Olivier Leflaive as it is the home of chief winemaker Franck Grux. The Maison typically produces up to 10 cuvées including Premiere Crus; Perrières, Charmes, Genevrières, Poruzots, Bouchères and Narvaux.
Terroir: 1er Cru Bouchères, sitting just south of the village is one of the most northern of Meursault’s 1er Crus. The vineyard sits mid-hillside with Les Porozots just south and a small wooded, rocky area just up the hill. Soils are well drained and based in clay and limestone.
Vinification The parcels are hand harvested and undergo alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in barrel. The Maison restricts the use of new oak to just 20% to retain vineyard character. The wines see on average 12-15 months in barrel before a gentle fining, blending and finally bottling. The wine will rest in bottle for 15-18 months prior to release.
