The most majestic of the worlds white wines, the rare Chardonnays of Le Montrachet represent the finest and most age worthy white wines made anywhere.
Terroir: Evenly split between the appellations of Puligny and Chassagne Montrachet, the 10-acre Grand Cru of Le Montrachet sits fittingly at the top of the slope with a near perfect southeast exposure. The soil is well drained and made up primarily of a calcareous subsoil covered by a thin layer of brown, organic soil.
Vinification Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place entirely in oak, 30% of which is new. The wine ages on its lees for a minimum of 15 months in the Leflaive cellars. The Montrachet is aged in bottle for 18 months prior to release.
Olivier Leflaive Le Montrachet is one of the rarest wines in the entire Frederick Wildman portfolio with well under 100 cases allocated to the U.S. market.

An iconic wine that reveals its grandeur in a subtle bouquet of white flowers, apple, ripe pear, spices and mineral notes. Smooth and intense on the palate, this wine has excellent precision and a remarkable long finish.

Date: Wednesday, November 27, 2019"The 2017 Montrachet Grand Cru is showing brilliantly, unfurling in the glass with a complex bouquet of citrus oil, white currants, fresh peach, tangerine, freshly baked bread and a nicely integrated framing of new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with striking reserves of concentration, racy acids and compelling amplitude without weight. While this is still quite youthfully primary, it's a superb Montrachet that lives up to the reputation of this great vineyard. Bottled under Diam 10, it's built to reward some bottle age."
