About

Sweet Gwendoline

Sweet Gwendoline French Gin is an award-winning new world gin infused with Figue De Solliès. Ours is the only gin finished with French Moscatel white wine for a unique, round finish. Sourced & distilled in the South of France and bottled in New Orleans, the bright liquid is infused with botanicals juniper, angelica seed, coriander, sweet orange, cardamom, lemon, and lime. It has a whip-cracking taste with a smooth, warm entry bursting with citrus and black pepper finish and is perfect for a dry martini. Sweet Gwendoline French Gin is infused with fig, and 6 additional botanicals. Its aesthetic is based on the whip-cracking glamour of John Willie, a mid-century fetish artist and publisher of BIZARRE magazine. The brand captures the spirit of his most iconic character Sweet Gwendoline. Like its namesake, Sweet Gwendoline French Gin is sure to delight, bewitch and, awaken the senses!

History

The brand design is based on the provocative artwork of John Willie and his greatest creation, “Sweet Gwendoline”. Created by Larry McGearty – an entrepreneur, creator of spirit brand worlds, and fan of art and subculture – he found the perfect creative director in Dita Von Teese, who credits John Willie’s artistry as a source of inspiration for her creativity. Sourced in the South of France, near the medieval town of Brive-la-Gaillarde. The commune added “Gaillarde,” a term for “bravery,” to its name in 1919, and a world war later, it was the first French city to liberate itself. The liquid is created at Distillerie des Terres Rouges. The family-run distillery produces small batches using locally sourced ingredients distilled by steam in copper stills. Such a legacy informs the family-owned spirits house that is now entrusted with handcrafting Sweet Gwendoline French Gin in small-scale batches.
