About
An award-winning new world gin infused with figue de solliès and finished with French white wine.
Terroir
Sourced in the South of France, near the medieval town of Brive-la-Gaillarde. The commune added “Gaillarde,” a term for “bravery,” to its name in 1919, and a world war later, it was the first French city to liberate itself. Such a legacy informs the family-owned spirits house that is now entrusted with handcrafting Sweet Gwendoline French Gin in small-scale batches.
Farming
Bottled in New Orleans. Our gin is infused with macerated fig after the 2nd distillation; then finished with French wine following the 4th—and final—distillation. 7 botanicals create Sweet Gwendoline French Gin’s unique flavor: fig, sweet orange, cardamom, angelica seed, lime, coriander, and juniper.
Production Process
Our copper stills are Alambic Charentais. They are the same type of stills used for the production of cognac. Steam is used to heat the still, not gas. By heating the still with steam, the ingredients are preserved and not burned as they sometimes are with gas. The process is similar to the cooking process called bain-marie. White French wine is added as a cold-based blend once the gin is ready. The blending of the wine with the fig infusion rounds out the flavor of the gin with fresh citrus notes.
