Santi

About

Santi

Santi traces its origins to 1843, when Carlo Santi established a wine cellar in the village of Illasi situated behind the Lessini Mountains, between the hills of Colognola and Lavagno. Santi is known and respected for its Veneto and Trentino wines. Santi is situated in the heart of the most acclaimed wine growing zones in the Veneto near Lake Garda. Devoted to the production of Soave Classico, Pinot Grigio, Valpolicella and Amarone, Santi wines are mainly crafted from estate-grown fruit, or from long-standing relationships under the supervision of the Santi winemaking team. Santi has fully renovated the original winery that accommodates its modern winemaking facility and ageing cellar. In addition to experimenting with the benefits of ageing in new French oak barrels (barriques), Santi emphasizes new techniques to improve the quality of their wines.

Director & Oenologist

Cristian Ridolfi

Cristian Ridolfi comes from San Martino Buon Albergo, a small town near Verona, in the Veneto Region, where he has spent all his entire life and career. He began his activity as an oenologist immediately after graduating from the Agricultural Institute of Conegliano. He started to collaborate with important players in the Valpolicella wine world, among them, we can find the Santi Winery, where he spent 2 years, from the 1998 to the 2000. His career continued with a long and profitable collaboration with the prestigious and historic Veronese Bertani winery where he worked up until 2015. Ridolfi has a detailed knowledge on the Veronese wine lands: the origins of the appellations and the story of how these terroirs have been developed in order to obtain the best interpretation of the particularities of every valley by fully appreciating their autochthonous vines. “I am very satisfied with this new path that I am about to undertake,” says Cristian Ridolfi. “Santi was one of the first wineries where I worked and returning there, after almost twenty years, to run it, fill me with pride and motivation.” The Santi winery, founded in 1843 at Illasi in the province of Verona, has always produced, since the very beginning, the classic Veronese wines such as Ripasso and Amarone della Valpolicella. It has always been distinguished by the quality level of its wines and for its attention to the most advanced vinification techniques. Cristian Ridolfi, with his passion for the tradition and his deep knowledge, will enhance each different parcel of vineyards, creating unique wine expressions.
