Di Sipio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC 2021

About
Montepulciano is the reigning king of the Abruzzese wines, as the most widely planted varietal in the region, with roughly 47,000 acres of vineyards out of the about 79,000 acres total. It is one of the most important varieties of the entire Adriatic Coast of Italy – it is also cultivated in Marches, Molise, and Puglia, with some small production in the neighboring regions of Campania, Umbria, and Basilicata.
Terroir
Abruzzo’s landscape predominantly comprises rolling hills and rugged mountains, with elevations ranging from sea level to over 9.5000 feet. The area of production, within the Province of Chieti, is characterized by clay and limestone soil. The region’s geological diversity ensures that each grape variety can match its optimal soil type, enhancing the grapes’ expression and complexity.
Vinification
Maceration of the skins at a controlled temperature. After the fermentation, the wine decants into stainless steel tanks completing the malolactic process. Finally, it ages in wood barrels to enhance its organoleptic characteristics.
