Alessandro Zanette

Alessandro Zanette is from Sacile in Friuli Venezia Giulia region, a town renowned for its pianos and rooted vine cuttings. He has had clear ideas since he was at middle school: he would continue his studies specializing in agronomy. His passion for vine-growing and winemaking became serious business, especially when he attended the well-known Istituto G.B. Cerletti in Conegliano (TV), a historical school where vine-growing and winemaking have been taught since 1800. In 2006, he obtained a degree in Winemaking at the University of Padua, achieving top marks of 110/110.

He gained wide experience at wineries and cooperatives in the north-east of Italy, including at Cantina Sociale Coop in Orsago (2002), where he worked as a grape selector and maintenance technician for winemaking machinery; at Cantina Ca’ Ongaresca in 2003, specializing in bottling sparkling wine; and was then involved in setting up Cantina Sociale Coop in Tezze (Treviso) in 2004-2005.

With wide-ranging and valuable experience in different areas, he has developed his professional know-how. He has acquired theoretical and technical knowledge, holding many positions from winery technician to winemaker. He had his first experience in Tuscany in 2006, during harvest Tenuta Carpineto. This experience left a significant impression on Alessandro, making him fall in love with this wonderful land for its vines and wines.

After his important meeting with Christian Scrinzi, the winemaking and production manager of Gruppo Italiano Vini, Alessandro moved to work in the charming Chianti hills. In 2007, he started his work at Cantine Melini, the historical winery in Tuscany founded in 1705, where he worked alongside Christian Scrinzi and the manager of the Cantine Melini Marco Galeazzo reorganizing the winemaking center, which also controls wine estates in the Chianti region (Selvanella, Terrarossa and San Lorenzo).
