About

Created in 1998 by the Carthusian Monks. Built on a beetroot-based spirit. Gentian is an Alpine plant originally known for its medicinal properties.
Gentian from the French Alps forms the backbone, blended with a proprietary mix of herbs and spices.

Production Process

The Carthusian Fathers have reworked this ancestral recipe for themselves carefully selected fermented roots and rootstalk. They then add a maceration of spices and sugar with a beetroot alcohol base.

Tasting Notes

Distinct Gentian bitterness with citrus notes and subtle herbal, floral, and spice accents.

Serving Suggestions

Chartreuse Gentiane is great served chilled neat as an after-dinner digestif or apéritif, mixed with soda/tonic, or in cocktails like a White Negroni, with whiskey, or paired with salty nuts and Alpine cheeses to balance its earthy notes. Try it simply with tonic water and a lemon twist, or as a bitter component in stirred drinks with rum, bourbon, or mezcal for depth.
