About
The domain acquired two parcels in this area: one in 1920-1921 and the other in 1975. It was awarded Grand Cru status in 1936.
Terroir
The soil is composed of 33% limestone with a 25 cm layer of fine gravel washed down from the slopes of the Combe Lavaux. Along the top of the vineyard the vines grow in Premeaux limestone and further down, the soil becomes calcareous clay. Both these soils originate from ancient rocks which date back to the Bathonian era are dark in colour with a predominance of clear limestone.
Vinification
The Domaine’s winemaking methods have changed very little since its first harvest. The same rigor in monitoring the fermentation stages remains in place.
Tasting Notes
The resulting wines are firm, with a pleasant roundness and aromas of red berries and cherries. This excellent Premier Cru is characterized by its elegance, freshness and minerality.
