Shiraz Le Secateur is grown in Barossa Valley – Australia’s most famous region that remains Phylloxera free and home to some of the oldest vines in the world including, our Old Garden planted in 1853 and Old Fence Line Block Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains.​

Pre-phylloxera fruit does not need to be grafted, meaning it is planted on its original roots.​ Strong correlation between grape quality and the age of trunk wood (vine roots). ​The fruit reflects the original character ​of the grape with greater intensity.

Terroir

Le Secateaur is grown in Steingarten Road Vineyard at an altitude of 280m
The soil is singular soil-type is ancient oxidised ferrous (terra rossa) over limestone

Vinification

Vinification features combination whole berry and crushed; cold soak; on skins for
two- three weeks/remontage. It is aged 14 months in mid-seasoned French oak barriques

Tasting Notes

The color is deep crimson red with a purple hue. The aroma features red and black forest berries, French oak spice and richness. On the palate is explosive red berries, velvety soft tannins. Fresh acidity on the finish.

Food Pairing

Perfectly paired with barbequed lamb, marinated beef and aged hard cheeses.
