Hewitson wines are grown in the heart of Barossa Valley. Hewitson wines bring together state of the art technology with traditional winemaking practices and a soft footprint on the land.
Terroir
The Hewitson LuLu Shiraz vineyard is superbly situated close to the coast. It brings cool climate elegance to Australia’s premier variety. Soils are an ancient seabed made up primarily of sandy loam and limestone.
Vinification
Grapes are hand- harvested in the cool, pre-dawn hours. The grapes are crushed and demstemmed followed by a three week maceration on the skins at cool temperatures. The young wines are aged briefly in temperature stainless steel tanks and bottled
Tasting Notes
Classic cooler climate aromas of red fruits, pepper and spice. Fresh seamless palate of succulent cherries and forest floor fruits. Fine tannins and a creamy texture compliment the lingering fresh berry flavors
Food Pairing
Pairs best with barbequed venison, aged prime beef cuts and roast lamb.
