Each terroir has its own identity, our “bio-vinification” allows us to enhance their qualities and styles. Sancerre is made up of four terroirs (including three main ones), Calcaire (40% of the appellation), Argilo-Calcaire (40% of the appellation), Silex (15% of the appellation), and Les Griottes (5%, Bué and Crézancy).

Terroir

The grapes are sourced from the different soils of the maison. The resulting wine is a blend of grapes grown 50% on limestone, 30% on flint and 20% on clay-limestone. The vineyards are located in the villages Tracy sur Loire and Boisgibault

Vinification

The grapes are sorted upon receipt at the winery, where we work by gravity in order to be as respectful as possible of the natural cycle of vinification. We lightly press the grapes and only keep the first part of the juice – the purest, most precise and full of flavor. The musts are then cold settled without the use of enzymes. Each batch from the different terroirs is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats (with natural yeast). The wine is then blended and slightly filtered. It is then aged a further 7 months before bottling

Tasting Notes

A great example of the unique style of the maison. The Blanc Fumé is a perfectly balanced wine : complex, powerful, with great lenght and body. A dry, ciselled palate frames defined, structured aromas of ripe white fruit, ripe citrus, citrus flowers and a marked smokiness

This Pouilly-Fumé challenges the notion that all the Loire Sauvignon Blanc action is in Sancerre. Gold in color, this wine opens with ripe golden apple, fall Bosc pear, brioche, quince and candied lemon peel. The wine is vibrant with some creaminess emerging on the attack followed by subtle baking spice and dried white blossom.

A slight honeyed note to the candied lemon peel and yellow plum flavors imparts a richness to this white, which is a lush style for sure, with chamomile and straw notes chiming in. A tug of bitter tannins brings form and balance to the long finish, graced by a salted almond note. Drink now through 2030.
