About

The Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils is settled in the heart of Chablis since 2001, near by the Grands Crus, in very functional and modern facilities: an entirely air-conditioned 1500 m2 place gathering all the vineyard equipment, fermenting room, bottling, labeling and wine storage. The Domaine also has an old 17th century vault in the center of Chablis, «la Grange aux Dîmes”. The logo representing the Statue of Saint Martin can be seen in front of the church facing our “Grange”.

Terroir

Located on the right bank of Chablis, the Domaine has 3 ha in one big piece. The soils are clay-limestone marls from Kimmeridgien (Upper Jurassic), very rocky with white and dense clays

Vinification

Manual harvesting and grape selection on a sorting table. Pneumatic press. Cold settling and fermentation with a temperature of around 20°C. Natural yeasts. 50% in regulated stainless steel tanks / 50% in barrels for 9 months(2/3/4year-old barrels – less than 5% of new oak) and 6 months blending in tanks before bottling. 100% of the malolactic fermentation. Natural tartaric stabilization after 12 to 16 months aging.

Rich and verging on creamy, with peach, green plum, lemon, floral and mineral flavors, this white turns leaner and more defined as the bracing acidity emerges, driving the citrus and mineral finish. Drink now through 2032.

Vinous

The 2022 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a surprisingly austere bouquet that demands some coaxing from the glass. At the moment, it is outperformed by the Valmur. The palate is fresh and saline, with wonderful acidity, touches of peach and Clementine towards its graceful nish. Long and tender. I would give this time in bottle for the aromatics to open.
