Terroir: The tiny plot of Grand Cru Valmur sits snuggly between Vaudésir to the north and Les Clos to the south. Domaine Christian Moreau Pere et Fils owns a total of 3 acres of this famed terroir. The plot is densely planted (7000 vines per hectare) with vines averaging 50 years old.
Vinification: Up to 50% of the blend spends some time in oak, of which 90% are 2-3 year old barrels. Just 10% is new.

"This is rich, with a stony element underlying the apple and melon flavors. Well-balanced and long, needing time to integrate all the elements. Vibrant acidity drives this from start to finish. Best from 2017 through 2026. "

"This apple-crisp wine has tight acidity and touches of wood rounded out by yellow fruits. It is ripe and very full, the nervy, mineral character contrasting with the richness that is now developing. It will age slowly, so dont drink before 2020."

"The 2013 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is matured half in barrel and half in tank, with around 5% new oak that actually feels like more on the nose at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly nutty notes on the entry, saline in the mouth with shaved ginger notes enlivening the racy, orange zest finish with a tang of bitter lemon on the aftertaste. Very fine. "

"Bright yellow, but paler than the Vaudsir. More classic on the nose, offering scents of peach, lime an'd pepper, plus a touch of smoke. Boasts superb depth of fruit to its stone fruit, peach oil and mineral flavors. Offers good punch and an ample structure but the Vaudsir is more elegant."
"This possesses perhaps the most prominent Chablis character with its notes of mineral reduction, algae, tidal pool and oyster shell scents. There is fine intensity and first-rate detail to the medium weight flavors that evidence a sleek muscularity and plenty of power on the driving and impressively lingering finish. This is an old school Valmur that is robust and masculine in disposition."
