Terroir: The 4.2 acre Domaine Jacques Prieur parcel of 1er Cru Greves sits on the slope overlooking the town of Beaune just west of the village. The vineyard faces southeast and produces both red and white wines of superior quality. Soils are made up primarily of small pebbles (Greves), sand and clay leading to a wine of great elegance.
Vinification: Grapeas are hand harvested strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 23 days prior to racking. The red and white Greves both undergo 100% malolactic fermentation and 16 months of aging in oak barrels.
"Bright full yellow. Apricot and wild herb aromas show a honeyed ripeness. Fat and plump but with sound acidity. Falls down a bit on the back end, which seems a bit harsh with alcohol."
"pretty nose combines notes of white peach, pear and lemon rind before merging into vibrant middle weight flavors that possess reasonably good depth and length. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the solid quality is a pleasant surprise given how young the vines are."
