Terroir: Domaine Jacques Prieur's 3.7 acre plot of Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes sits with an ideal southeast facing exposure. The soil is primarily of clay and limestone with average draining that leads to highly ripe grapes.
Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 12-14 hours prior to fermentation. The wine ages for a total of 16 months in oak barrels deep in the cellars of Domaine Jacques Prieur.
This is a fine and extremley elegant 2008 Puligny Montrachet. A style that has become synomonous with the prestige of this vineyard. The wine is fresh yet powerful with plenty of mineral, peach and toasty oak.
"Oily, yeasty, citrus fruit and oak aromas. Sweet oak is quite dominant against the honeyed yellow fruit, yet it is quite a lean style."

"Bright yellow. Very ripe aromas of apricot, dried fruits and clove. Supple, suave and very rich, with its attractive sweetness nicely balanced by ripe acids. For all its richness, this is less exotic than the Chevalier-Montrachet and shows more tension and force. The persistent, slightly aggressive finish shows a saline, minerally quality."
