El Coto de Rioja Crianza is one of the most popular wines in all of Spain and one of the top selling Rioja's in the world. Year in/ year out this wine exhibits character, complexity and value unmatched in the category.
Terroir: The Crianza is sourced from low yielding Tempranillo grown on estate and other vineyards primarily in Rioja Alta, as well as additional sources in Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Baja.
Vinification: The wine is macerated and fermented in stainless steel vats for 20-25 days with extended time on the skins to extract flavor and complexity, followed by 12 months aging in a combination of new and used American oak and 6 months in bottle prior to release.

The 2007 vintage of El Coto's entry level Crianza is a blockbuster! This 100% Tempranillo shows layers of fresh raspberries, cherry, cedar and spice typical of a classically styled Rioja. This is all wrapped up in a vanilla and leather laiden package that is medium in body and sports a long, soft finish. Always a good value, and for 2007; a spectacular value!

"Ruby-red. Red and dark berry preserves on the nose, with complicating notes of licorice and smoked meat. Lively, delineated raspberry and cherry flavors stain the palate, with a candied floral quality gaining power with air. This open-knit, gently sweet wine finishes with fine-grained tannins and sweet persistence."
