Malbec Rosé 2009

Michel Torino

Michel Torino's Coleccion range of wines expresses a prominent, “fruit forward” style, with pure varietal character and vineyard typicity. The goal is to produce elegant and complex wines for their category.

Terroir: Each of the Coleccion range are sourced from entirely estate owned vineyards throughout the Cafayate Valley. Vineyards sit at elevations well above 3,000 feet with many sitting above 5,000 feet. The power of the sun at these elevations combined with very little moisture or pests leads to wines of unique purity and concentration.

Vinification: Each wine in the Coleccion range presents the true character of the varietal. The wines are produced in a young, juicy style with minimal oak influence and just 5 months of aging in the cellar prior to bottling and release.

The rosé is produced following a short contact of the juice with the skins, then the liquid is run off after it has acquired its pink color. Fermentation begins and the rest of vinification follows that utilized for white wines.

Additional Information

Has assertive aromas of roses, honey, and crushed cherries with notes of spice and rosemary. On the palate, there is crisp, ripe strawberry fruit with bubblegum and white pepper notes on the finish. A great match with lighter summer dishes.

"The Michael Torino 2009 Malbec Ros was produced from fruit sourced in the Cafayate Valley of Argentina. The grapes were harvested manually and after crushing there is some skin contact. Fermentation and vinification is handled in the same manner as their white wines. This selection has a suggested retail price of $11.99.This 2009 Ros has a darker, deeper hue than most. Aromas of wild strawberry and cherry fill the nose along with a light hit of spice. Vibrant red fruit flavors underscored by hints of tropical and citrus fruits lead the vivid, appealing palate. White pepper and fruit flavors that take a savory turn are part of the finish on this selection. This wine is lush and refreshing with solid, racy acidity. This is a Ros with a bit more heft than most. Its fuller body and a bit of brighter fruit makes it a natural partner for more substantial foods than the average Ros. That said, some of those same qualities make it very enjoyable to drink on its own as well. In either case a very refreshing and appealing Ros whether you drink it as summer wanes or with Thanksgiving Dinner in a few months."
