To the south of the Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet shares with Puligny-Montrachet the undisputed prince of all dry white wines of creation: the divine Montrachet (pronounced Mon-rachet). This large and beautiful hillside brings the two Burgundian grape varieties to excellence. Pinot noir and chardonnay flourish here side by side due to the complexity of the terroirs. Large quarries of marble stone form a rocky front: in Paris, the Trocadéro or more recently the Louvre Pyramid use this stone in pink or beige paving.

Terroir

Blending from two plots from our Domain, but also from two contract of grapes bought from neighbors. The A.O.C called in the past “Clos de Morgeot” is located below the road to go from Chassagne-Montrachet to Santenay. The soil is deeper and more clayey than elsewhere but there is limestone.

Vinification

The grapes are grown following HVE (High Environmental Value, level 3) standards in argils-calcareous soils. 100% manual harvest. 100% Chardonnay. 100% whole grapes, 24h static settling. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. 18 months ( 6 months in stainless steel tank) 100% in oak barrels ( 20% of new oak)

Tasting Notes

Wine of great amplitude. It is complete and expresses itself perfectly in 2022. We find the vine flower, a rare and delicate aroma, which subtly accompanies the power of this wine.

Food Pairing

To be enjoyed with shellfish or poultry in sauce.
