Olivier Leflaive Frères

Olivier Leflaive Frères Beaune Clos Des Monsnières Monopole 2021

About

Beaune has one of the most extensive vineyards on the Côte. It is the “Pinot Vermeil” of the Dukes of Burgundy, a red wine renowned since the High Middle Ages for the youthfulness of its temperament, full of fire and bouquet. Quite rare, the whites highlight terroirs favorable to chardonnay. The Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée was established in 1936. The vineyard is exposed from east to south between 220 and 300 meters altitude.

Terroir

Vineyards surrounded by walls on 3 sides, with their backs to the Montagne de Beaune and with a magnificent view of the Pommard vineyard and the Côte.

Vinification

The grapes are grown sustainably in shallow clay-limestone soils over ironstone gravel. 100% manual harvest. 100% Chardonnay. 100% destemmed grapes. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in oak barrels. 12 months ( 4 months in stainless steel tank) 100% oak barrels (10% new oak)

Tasting Notes

With a nice approach from the first sips, this wine is generous and does not fail to charm the taste buds with a balance between the fruit and the chiseled finish.

Food Pairing

Ideal with crab cakes, a veal blanquette with mushrooms or even a Brillat-Savarin with truffles.
