Olivier Leflaive Frères

Olivier Leflaive Frères Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2024

About

Corton-Charlemagne is named after the Emperor Charlemagne, who was the owner of this vineyard.

Terroir

This Grand Cru appellation, the largest, is produced in the 3 villages of Aloxe Corton, Pernand Vergelesses and Ladoix Serrigny, forming the Corton hill. The geological differences combined with the different exposures give rich, fatty wines, marked by minerality and the crystalline side. Here, two origins of limestone from the Oxfordian period overlap, forcing the roots of the vine to draw the essential elements which give the very particular taste of this terroir. Our cuvée is most often produced from a few small plots located in the 3 villages.

Vinification

The grapes are grown sustainably in limestone soil. 100% manual harvest. 100% Chardonnay. 100% whole grapes, 24h static settling. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. 18 months ( 6 months in stainless steel tank) 100% in oak barrels ( 25% of new oak)

Tasting Notes

A delicate nose turned towards the minerality of the terroir. Flattering and tender in the mouth, it presents mineral notes which give it finesse and harmony. Some pretty bitters come to finish the finish

Food Pairing

It will go wonderfully with quail eggs with truffles, pike soufflé or capon with white wine and morels.
