Olivier Leflaive Frères

Olivier Leflaive Frères Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2024

About

Disappeared in the depths of the soil near Nuits-Saint-Georges, the hard Comblanchien limestone reappears here while going south, we leave the red wines to visit the whites. These excellent vineyard lands were developed by the monks of Cîteaux as early as 1098. The Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée was established in 1937. Meursault also produces a small quantity of red wine. The most beautiful terrain is located around 260 meters altitude, with an exposure that slants from east to south.

Terroir

The largest of all the 1er Crus classified as terroirs of Meursault but also the archetype of the style of Meursault (rich, fat and powerful). Each step of the terroir gives elegance (Dessus), power (Milieu) and richness (Dessous). The soil is rich in clay and more sedimentary.

Vinification

The grapes are grown sustainably in clayey-silt soil. 100% manual harvest. 100% Chardonnay. 100% whole bunch, 24h static settling. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. 18 months ( 6 months in stainless steel tank) 100% in oak barrels ( 25% of new oak)

Tasting Notes

A wine of great elegance with some notes of toast and fruit tart. The palate is sapid and generous, providing volume and length.

Ideal with a velouté of blond mushrooms with truffle cream or Veal sweetbread vol-au-vent, chanterelle mushrooms with lemon sauce
